Catholic 82, Clark 78
WORCESTER, Mass. — Catholic University advanced to the Final Four for the first time in school history, defeating Clark 82-78 in the sectional final and will face Ohio Northern in the national semifinals on Friday, March 16 in Salem, Va.

The Cardinals (26-5) shot 54.5% from the field in the first half and led 38-31 at the break. Clark freshman guard Trevor Walker hit one of his nine three-pointers with 14:39 on the clock to close the gap to three, 46-43 and then 10 seconds later hit another long distance bomb to tie the game at 46-46. Catholic freshman forward Will Morley scored in the paint and sophomore forward Matt Hilleary converted a layup to put Catholic up 50-46. Walker hit a trey to close the gap to one, 50-49 at the 12:20 mark.

Hilleary scored on Catholic's next possession and senior guard Andy Rice followed with a three-point shot to put the Cardinals up 55-49 with 11:22 left to play. Walker made four consecutive free throws to close the gap to two 55-53 but Morley answered with a jump shot and a put-back to extend the Cardinal lead to six, 59-53. Walker hit another trey and cut the Cardinal lead to three, 59-56 at the 9:42 mark. Rice converted a free throw to put the Cardinals up 60-56 but then Clark (24-5) scored three consecutive baskets, the first on a layin by junior forward Amos Anderson and the next two on drives by sophomore guard Sean Fleming to give Clark a 62-60 lead.

Morley hit two free throws to tie the game at 62-62 but Walker hit a three-point basket to give Clark a 65-62 edge. Catholic stormed back with seven unanswered points, a jumper from senior guard Tim Judge, two free throws from senior guard Pat Maloney and a trey from sophomore guard Kevin Wise gave the Cardinals a 71-67 lead which they never relinquished. Walker hit his final bomb of the night to close the gap to one, 71-70 but Maloney stepped up for the Cardinals and answered with a three-point basket of his own.

Maloney, senior forward Kurt Zeisler, Morley and Rice combined to convert eight free throws in the final minute to seal the victory. The Cougars hit back-to-back three-point baskets in the final 14 seconds but couldn't quite close the gap.

Maloney led four Catholic players in double figures with 25 points. Morley scored 16. Hilleary added 12 points and 12 rebounds and Rice tallied 11 points for the Cardinals.

Walker led Clark with a season-high 31 points.
