75, Kings Point 69 Clark (24-4) led 41-32 at the half behind McNamara's 11 points. Mariners freshman forward Gabe Whitney put in a missed shot and senior guard Johnny Garrett made two consecutive steals and converted layups to cut the lead to three in the first minute of the second half. Clark recovered and scored the next five points as McNamara drove and hit a lay-in shot and senior forward Bob Andrejczyk converted a steal to a hoop and hit the next free throw to put Clark up 46-38 at the 17:08 mark. Garrett closed the gap to 46-42 with a jumper and a dunk with 16:20 remaining. Garrett hit a three-point basket at the 13:50 mark to close the gap to 50-47. The teams traded baskets for the next 12 minutes. With 3:46 left in the game, freshman guard Trevor Walker hit a jumper and a free throw to put Clark up by seven, 65-58. Garrett answered for the Mariners to close the gap to five, 65-60. Walker hit a jump shot to restore Clark's seven point advantage 67-60 but Garrett drove the lane twice and scored to cut Clark's lead to three, 67-64 with one minute left in the game. McNamara hit a three-point shot with :38 seconds on the clock to give the Cougars a 70-64 lead and Clark hit five free throws in the final 22 seconds. For Clark, Andrejczyk added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Sean Fleming scored 12 points and pulled down six boards. Garrett scored a game-high 23 points for the Mariners. |
