Carthage 83, Marian 65
KENOSHA, Wis. — Carthage won its first-round game in the NCAA Division III Tournament 83-65 over Marian on Thursday.
The Redmen (21-5) advance to play a second-round game at Wooster (24-3) on Saturday.

The Redmen led by 12 points at halftime, 45-33, after breaking the game open midway through the first half. Carthage used an 11-2 run, starting at the 11:38 mark, to go up by 14 points, 33-17. Carthage connected on four-straight three-pointers in that stretch, three by Greg Ktistou and one by Todd Brincks. Carthage extended its lead to 21 points in the second period, 61-40, at 13:05. The Sabres (17-11) got no closer than 17 points after that, 66-49, at 9:34.

Carthage goes on to win by 18, 83-65. The Redmen shot 60% for the game (32--for-53), while the Sabres shot 36% (21-for-58). Four Carthage players scored in double figures. Greg Ktistou scored a game-high 25 points, including 4-for-7 three-point shooting, along with five assists. Antoine McDaniel had 20 points on 9-for-14 field goals.

Jason Wiertel had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Rob Garnes added 10 points. Joe Napier topped Marian with 14 points, while Eric Muench had 12 points.
