Salisbury Headlining the returnees is junior guard Amy Campion, who followed her CAC Rookie of the Year honor in 2000 with second team all-conference accolades last year. Campion led the Gulls in scoring (14.1 ppg), assists (4.1) and steals (3.7) last year while finishing second on the team in rebounds (7.3). She was the teams leading scorer in eight games while also recording four double-double performances. Senior guard/forward Jaime Kohlenstein is the other returning starter. Kohlenstein averaged a career-best 10.8 ppg last year while finishing second on the team in steals (3.2) and third in assists (2.9). Sophomore center Heather Romich, who averaged 3.4 ppg and 2.8 rpg while seeing action in 24 contests, and junior guard Cate Begley (2.4 ppg) round out the returnees. Head Coach Bridget Benshetler will spend the preseason looking to fill the void left by the graduation losses of center Lisa Neylan, and guards Elisabeth Barfuss and Michele Deshu. Neylan closed her career as the programs all-time scoring leader (1,540 career points) and third leading rebounder (1,043). Barfuss finished as the third all-time scorer (1,483 points) and fourth all-time in assists (357). Barfuss and Deschu remain with the program as assistant coaches this season. |
