Iowa Wesleyan University named Jack Bruns as its new head women's basketball coach. He replaces Steve Williamson who became the head coach at former NAIA rival, William Penn.

University Vice President for Student Development Dr. Wes Brooks announced the hiring.

"Through this search process, it was clear Jack was the right person for this role. With such strong tradition and history in the program, expectations are high. I am confident Coach Bruns can continue a culture of academic and athletic success for our women's basketball team," said Dr. Wes Brooks in the University's release.

Bruns has worked at the University as the Director of Career Development, Internships, and Service Learning, an assistant coach on the men's basketball team and an admissions counselor. He graduated from Central in 2011.

"I am extremely honored and humbled with the opportunity to help build on the success the women's basketball program has already experienced," said Bruns in the release. "I've called Mount Pleasant "home" for the last three years and I look forward to further ingraining myself and my family into this community."

Bruns replaces Steve Williamson who stepped down to take the women's basketball head coaching job at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Williamson had a career record of 246-147, with most of that experience coming before Iowa Wesleyan started its transition from the NAIA to Division III in 2013-14.

The Tigers finished 10-13, 9-7 in the SLIAC last season.
