Tim Redding's basketball career seems to be tied to the Pennsylvania City with a similar name. The Albright graduate who coached Reading High School moved to the town next door to take the head coaching job at Penn State-Berks.
The University announced Redding as its new men's basketball coach effective immediately. He replaces Scott Yarnell who went 100-181 in 11 seasons with the Nittany Lions. Redding will be just the second coach at Penn State-Berks since the program joined Division III.
"We are excited to have Tim join the Penn State Berks athletics family," said Director of Athletics Lisa Deibler. in a release. "We believe that his experience, character, and enthusiasm will continue to build our men's basketball program and help us to provide a quality student-athlete experience. We are confident that he will be a great asset to our department and our student-athletes."
Tim Redding played football, basketball and ran track at Albright College in Reading. In addition to assistant coaching stints at Cabrini and Division II Shepherd, he also coached the Reading Railers of the Premier Basketball League before taking over the Reading High School program. Redding went 71-18 in three seasons and won three conference titles with the Red Knights.
Penn State-Berks finished 8-17, 8-10 in the NEAC last season.
