Remy Pinson answered a game-tying three-pointer by hitting a layup with one second left to lift No. 12 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps past Pomona-Pitzer 57-55 in the rivalry game of the night on a Wednesday night full of rivalries in Division III men's basketball.

Pinson was one of three Stags in double figures. The rivalry is so heated the court was stormed twice before the ballgame was officially over.

No. 7 Hope defeated archrival Calvin 81-65 to push its record to 15-1 and its all-time advantage in Division III's top rivalry to 93-87.

Calvin jumped out to a 14-4 lead and led the game until midway through the second half when Hope took its first lead 58-57 on two free throws by Peter Bunn. The Flying Dutchmen took control from that point and finished the game on a 23-8 run. Hope's backcourt of Bunn and David Krombeen combined for 41 points and 11 rebounds. The Flying Dutchmen are 15-1, 5-0 in the MIAA.

No. 21 Wittenberg stifled No. 16 Wabash 61-43. The Tigers held the Little Giants 23 points below their season scoring average and grabbed a two-game lead in the NCAC standings.

In another one of Division III's closest rivalries, geographically speaking, Wilkes defeated King's 66-56. The Colonels sit atop the MAC Freedom conference with a 10-3, 5-0 record.

The Centennial Conference's rivalry night lived up to its billing, as all five men's basketball games were decided by five points or fewer. McDaniel was 8-for-10 from the line in the final 47 seconds to hold off Gettysburg and win 54-50. Georgio Milligan scored 21 points as Franklin and Marshall defeated Dickinson 65-62. Washington College overcame a 19-for-54 shooting performance by forcing 23 Johns Hopkins turnovers in a 64-59 victory in Baltimore. Pat Vasturia scored a team-high 19 points as Ursinus edged Muhlenberg 63-61. And Haverford survived three attempts to tie the game on the final possesion and defeat Swarthmore 65-62.

No. 18 William Paterson beat New Jersey City 72-58 and ended the Gothic Knights 17-game home winning streak. John Carroll and Capital both won to stay tied for first in the OAC in advance of Saturday's showdown in Columbus. The Blue Streaks cruised past Heidelberg 94-68 and the Crusaders topped Ohio Northern 73-69.
