Thomas More coach leaves for Xavier

More news about: Thomas More

Brian Neal has resigned as women's basketball coach at Thomas More to accept an assistant women's basketball coach position at nearby Xavier. A nationwide search for a new coach will begin immediately.

Neal leaves Thomas More as the program's winningest coach with a .847 win percentage (171-31) over seven seasons. He led his team to NCAA postseason play in the last five seasons, including Sweet 16 finishes in 2008 and 2011. Neal guided the Saints to six consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference regular season titles, five PAC Championship titles in a row, six consecutive 20-win seasons and two undefeated regular seasons in his seven years in Crestview Hills, Ky.

"Coach Neal took the women's basketball program from regional prominence to national prominence in his seven years at Thomas More," Thomas More athletic director Terry Connor said. "We are very thankful for all the work he did to develop the program into a Top 10 program in the nation. We wish Brian and his family the best of luck in the move to Xavier."
