Championship Saturday

St. Thomas should have at least a slightly easier time working against the post defense of Wooster than Middlebury, which blocked eight shots per game this season.

St. Thomas vs. Wooster, Wash U vs. Amherst. Some all-stars and the second-leading scorer in Division III history round out a day where two trophies will be handed out, and at least one to a newcomer.

And in the first half, St. Thomas did its best Williams impression rolling up a lead of as many as 22 points before settling for a 43-26 halftime lead against Wooster. The Tommies went on to finish it off with a 78-54 win for the team's first national championship. Full story

Olivet's Mike McClary and Whitworth's Michael Taylor each led the way with 18 points as the West All-Stars held off the East All-Stars 92-81. The West took a big early lead before the East rallied and led briefly in the second half before the West pulled away. The East was led by 14 points from SUNYIT's David Golembiowski and Mass-Dartmouth's Brandon Stephens.
