Fontbonne women's coach steps down

Fontbonne women’s basketball coach Keith Quigley has stepped down after a 15-year run of success at the helm of the Griffin program. Quigley left to pursue other professional opportunities. 

Quigley ends his tenure as the Griffins head coach as the most successful women’s basketball coach in the history of Fontbonne. Quigley compiled a 254-134 overall record, 154-40 in the Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Throughout his 15 year career at Fontbonne, Quigley’s teams have never had a losing SLIAC record. He led Fontbonne to six SLIAC regular season championships, three SLIAC tournament championships and four Division III NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2001, Quigley led Fontbonne to a Sweet 16 appearance in the tournament. Quigley was named SLIAC Coach of the Year in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2010. 

Fontbonne athletic director Maria Eftink commended Quigley.  “As both the Director of Athletics and a former player of Coach Quigley’s, I would like to thank him for his time and commitment to Fontbonne athletics and the women’s basketball program,” Eftink said. “He has had great success over the years and had a positive effect on many student-athlete’s lives, including my own. The memories that have come from Coach Quigley’s leadership will be with his players forever. He is a great coach and will be missed on the sidelines.”
