Buzzer beater watch
Taking a football pass from sophomore Gabbie DePalo that carried past midcourt, Andrea Bailey caught the ball with a defender at her back, turned to her left and let it fly, giving Wheaton (Mass.) a 64-63 win against Worcester Polytech.

And in the end, it became the first D3hoops.com Women's Basketball Buzzer Beater of the Year. In voting over parts of the past two weeks, Bailey's shot got 295 of 702 votes, surpassing the 259 votes for a similar shot by Carthage's Katie Klemke to beat Elmhurst on Feb. 10.

A shot by Washington College's Meghan Tait to beat Ursinus received 33 votes. Redlands freshman Allison Wong's shot to beat Westmont received 30, while Chelsie Schweers' shot for Christopher Newport to beat Ferrum got 22.

One would have figured the men's Buzzer Beater of the Year was a no-brainer, but UW-Stout fans made it a close battle, down to the last few votes. With 99 of the 251 votes cast from the UW-Stout campus, Jerrel Enerson-Matthews' shot in the WIAC Tournament nearly pulled it out, but in the end, it was a halfcourt buzzer beater by Albertus Magnus' Byron Reaves that punctuated the upset win against William Paterson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament which got 262 votes to lead the way. The halfcourt shot by Gustavus Adolphus' Phil Wirtjes got 68 votes. Darnell Braswell's shot for DeSales got 36 votes, while the shot by Widener's Bobby Edmunds to defeat Albright got 30.
