Tarra Richardson reached a milestone and set a record in the same game.
Richardson reaches 2,000
Drawing up a more perfect way to end a four-year career at home on the basketball floor would be hard for McMurry senior Tarra Richardson. Not only did she take the crown as the American Southwest Conference's all-time leader in rebounds, but she surpassed 2,000 career points in a 106-39 win over Texas Lutheran on senior day at Kimbrell Arena on Saturday.

Richardson entered the game with 1,998 points and it took just 106 seconds into the contest before she reached the 2,000-point mark making her the only ASC player (male or female) to reach the milestone. She's the first Division III women's player to do so this season.

In addition, the two-time D3hoops.com All-American trailed Hardin-Simmons' Kendra Anderson by eight rebounds for the all-time lead prior to the game. Anderson pulled down 955 boards in her career, however, Richardson eclipsed the mark and pulled down rebound No. 956 in the second half with 15:49 remaining.

Richardson played sparingly in the blowout victory and narrowly missed her 10th double-double of the season with 10 points and nine rebounds. She had a solid defensive game with three blocks and two steals.

Richardson had set the all-time ASC scoring record Jan. 24 passing Mississippi College's Lacey Kennedy, who scored 1,890 points. Richardson could chase the 1,000-rebound milestone depending on McMurry's postseason accomplishments. After Saturday's win, Richardson had 957 rebounds and would need 43 more with just two regular season games remaining. McMurry will play in the ASC Tournament in two weeks and hopes to be headed to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year, giving her ample opportunity to accomplish the feat.

McMurry improved to 20-3 on the season overall and 17-2 in league play.

Centre has won 21 games in a row.
Centre survives DePauw's last shot
Centre kept its winning streak going and snapped DePauw's streak, surviving 69-66 on the road on Saturday afternoon in SCAC play. The No. 3 Colonels, who improved to 21-1, got 22 points from Thomas Britt, including back-to-back baskets late in the game that gave Centre the lead.

After Britt hit a pair of free throws with 3.1 seconds remaining, Tony James went the length of the court for the Tigers (18-5) but couldn't connect on his running three-point attempt. Saturday's men's scores.

No. 2 UW-Whitewater got blown out by No. 9 UW-Stevens Point on the road, 76-47. The last time Whitewater lost by that much, it was during the memorable opening round of the 2001 WIAC Tournament, when the Warhawks lost 90-49 as the No. 1 seed. The Pointers blew tonight's game open with a 19-2 second-half run and scored 40 of the final 53 points.

No. 14 Wooster won for the 18th time in 19 games and split the season series with rival Wittenberg with a 66-61 win. D3hoops.com's Matt Florjancic was there on Senior Night at Wooster as a senior class of James Cooper, Evan Will and Devin Fulk led the Scots.

No. 8 Augustana survived an upset attempt as well, as Dana Given's three-pointer hit off the rim for Millikin to allow the Vikings to win 59-56. Illinois Wesleyan kept pace in the CCIW by beating Wheaton (Ill.) on the road. No. 16 UW-Platteville lost for the second consecutive game, but in a surprising way, falling 70-59 at 9-14 UW-Superior. Pomona-Pitzer ran out to a 34-14 halftime lead on the road at No. 18 Occidental and went on to win 62-47.

Seventh-seeded New York City Tech got 31 points from Omar Mahoney and a triple-double from Jamaal Hill as the Yellow Jackets knocked off No. 2 seed Brooklyn 88-78 in the CUNYAC quarterfinals. Hill had 14 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds -- not to mention 10 turnovers -- in the win. The No. 6 seed, John Jay, advanced as well, as did fifth-seeded Hunter behind 37 points from Marlon Smith. York (N.Y.), the top seed, was the only higher seed to advance.

John Noonan scored 22 points and Matt Hilton added 16 as No. 19 Ursinus went on a 33-12 run in the second half to pull away from Dickinson 88-62. (Photo gallery) Ursinus clinched the top seed in the Centennial Conference tournament. Caltech took a SCIAC opponent to overtime for the second time this month, but lost 80-74 at home to La Verne. Connecticut College shot 82 percent in the second half and 67 percent for the game in winning at Middlebury 93-86.

UWSP back on track
UW-Stevens Point won its second consecutive home game against a ranked WIAC opponent as senior Haley Houghton scored a layup with just over a minute remaining in regulation as the Pointer women knocked off No. 3 UW-Whitewater 64-62.

The Warhawks, who fell back into a tie for first place in the WIAC, tied the game with a Rachel Woolever with 1:27 left before Houghton's basket. Stevens Point missed two shots with under 20 seconds left, but Whitewater's Lindsey Buechner couldn't convert on a shot in the lane as time expired. Saturday's women's scores.

Scroll down for coverage of Saturday's men's games and McMurry's Tarra Richardson, who reached 2,000 career points.

Mary Washington center Liz Hickey blocked three shots and is three short of tying the Division III career record for blocks after the No. 4 Eagles' 81-50 win against No. 22 Marymount. LeighAnn Burke scored 11 of the first 19 points and finished with 29 points on 12-for-15 shooting as No. 25 DeSales avenged its last loss with a 79-43 win against FDU-Florham. Seventh-ranked Messiah held Widener to 4-for-27 shooting in the first half and rolled to a 78-29 win.

No. 5 Thomas More held Geneva to 22 percent shooting in a 64-57 win. Six players scored in double figures for Illinois Wesleyan, led by 16 from Mallory Heydorn and Christina Solari in a 93-68 win against North Central. UW-La Crosse snapped a 26-game losing streak to UW-Stout behind 18 points from Lindsay Wahl and 12 from Mackenzie Hunter. Amherst and Tufts won in the NESCAC, giving Amherst the top seed for the conference tournament. Friday night's Northwest Conference losers turned winners on Saturday, as George Fox and Puget Sound beat Pacific and Whitworth.
