Allie Scott scored 16 in the Seahawks' win.
Three of Top 10 fall
No. 4 Mary Washington and No. 6 Kean lost Wednesday night in women's action, while men's No. 8 Augustana fell as well.

St. Mary's (Md.) got 16 points and four steals from Allie Scott, including a steal and jumper midway through the first half that gave the Seahawks the lead for good. It was just Mary Washington's second Capital Athletic Conference loss in three seasons.

New Jersey held off a Kean rally and hit 11 of 12 free throws in the final two minutes to snap the Cougars' 16-game winning streak. Hillary Klimowicz led the Lions with 19 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks while freshman forward Kelsey Kutch added 18 points in the win. Wednesday night's women's scores

In men's action, Kent Raymond scored a game-high 24 points and the Thunder had assists on 19 of their 28 baskets in knocking off No. 8 Augustana 73-60. The loss snapped the Vikings' six-game winning streak. Wednesday night's men's scores

Matt Goodwin scored 32 points as No. 2 UW-Whitewater took over sole possession of first place in the WIAC, winning 70-66 at No. 16 UW-Platteville. The Pioneers rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit but couldn't do the same after trailing 61-50. D.J. Mocini knocked down a three-pointer as time expired to lift Albion to a 56-55 home victory against Calvin. (Watch Albion's game-winning shot.) It gives the Britons sole possession of second in the MIAA. Ohio Wesleyan won at Wittenberg for the first time in 55 years, beating the Tigers 72-69. Meanwhile, Rutgers-Camden beat Richard Stockton for the first time in 47 games, on any floor, getting 26 points from freshman Brandon Canty in an 87-74 win.

A week after Caltech took Redlands to overtime, No. 18 Occidental did as well, escaping with an 83-80 road victory. Ben Strong had another fitting performance, lighting up Hampden-Sydney for 32 points and 11 rebounds in a 78-71 road win.

Asia Johnson blocked 14 shots, tied for the third-highest single game total in Division III women's basketball history to help lead William Paterson past Montclair State 68-56. The UW-Stevens Point women thought pink and put No. 18 UW-Eau Claire in the red 57-43 behind Haley Houghton's 11 points.

The D3hoops.com Team of the Week was released Wednesday night as well, honoring the best five players in men's and women's basketball from the previous week. Plus, don't forget our NCAA Tournament primer, plus Wednesday's release of the first NCAA regional rankings.

Maryville (Mo.) celebrated its SLIAC dominance Wednesday night.
SLIAC run hits record 73
Maryville (Mo.) broke the Division III record for longest conference winning streak, extending its SLIAC run to 73 consecutive games by winning 86-65 at Fontbonne on Wednesday night.

The Saints (18-3, 13-0) last lost a conference game to Fontbonne on Feb. 12, 2003, 104-78 victory on the Saints' home court. Maryville has had only seven SLIAC contests decided by less than 10 points during the streak. Their closest margin of victory was one point, with a 68-67 defeat of Webster on Jan. 29, 2005. The Saints have recorded 47 20-plus point victories in the SLIAC in five seasons and have outscored their conference opponents by an average of 27.25 points.

The previous record was held by Emmanuel, which won 71 consecutive GNAC games from 2000-06. The second- and third-longest active conference winning streaks each ended within the past week, as Gwynedd-Mercy lost a PnAC game and Baruch lost in the CUNYAC.
