Albion ends Hope's streak
Some No. 1 votes may well change hands after Friday's overtime three-point road loss by No. 1 Wash U at No. 3 Rochester. But No. 4 Hope won’t be picking any up, not after Albion gave the Flying Dutchmen their first MIAA loss, 56-52. The Britons, who were led by Drew Yancey's 10 points, and Calvin are 6-2 and one game back in the conference standings. Hope had won its past nine games.

The two top teams in the Northwest Conference each lost at home, as No. 7 Puget Sound fell to 6-13 George Fox 78-77 and Whitworth lost to Willamette 82-74. Evan Atwater led George Fox with 27 and Jason Foster had 40 for Puget Sound but the game came down to Robert Krauel's two missed foul shots with three seconds left.

Middlebury won at Williams for the first time since 1989, sending the Ephs to their third consecutive loss 63-60 on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers (15-4, 3-2) moved a game ahead of Williams in NESCAC play, while Williams dropped to seventh.

Will No. 3 Rochester reclaim the top spot or will someone else move to the head of the class? No. 2 Amherst will stay in the conversation after beating Bowdoin 85-79. So will No. 5 Mass-Dartmouth, Division III’s only unbeaten, which rolled Southern Maine 88-69.

Wes Ladwig scored 40 points as Carroll won a double-overtime thriller at No. 19 Lawrence, 115-113. Brett Wessels was just 6-for-18 from the floor but scored a game-high 22 points as 10th-ranked Augustana finished a regular-season sweep of Elmhurst, downing the No. 21 Bluejays 72-63. The Vikings enjoy first place by themselves in the CCIW at 6-2. No. 23 Guilford led wire-to-wire in downing Randolph-Macon 69-51. Ben Strong led the Quakers with 21 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. No. 24 Wheaton (Ill.) lost 80-73 at home against North Central. Saturday's men's scoreboard.

In a battle of CAC leaders, Jeremy Keefer notched 20 points and 13 rebounds and Levi Winters added 26 points to push York (Pa.) past Mary Washington 84-78 on the road, but the conference's thriller was a 124-120 double-overtime win by Hood at home against Gallaudet. Ryan Junghans finished with a game-high 47 to outdo Jon Mowl's 44. DeSales took control of the MAC Freedom with a 71-61 win over Wilkes. The Bulldogs shot 61 percent from the field to wrap up their 23rd consecutive win at Billera Hall. LeTourneau downed Mississippi College on a buzzer beater at home for the second consecutive season. Occidental remained atop the SCIAC with a 62-52 win against La Verne.

UW-W avenges only loss
No. 3 UW-Whitewater avenged its only defeat of the season and handed No. 20 UW-Eau Claire its first conference loss, 60-50. The Warhawks and Blugolds are tied for first place in the WIAC at 10-1. Eau Claire shot just 17-for-52 (33 percent) and was outrebounded 47-31.

No. 23 Puget Sound avenged its sole conference loss as well, as the Loggers outshot No. 12 George Fox 56-39 and outscored the Bruins 59-43. Marissa Cain scored eight points in the first 10 minutes for Puget Sound and finished with 17. George Fox turned the ball over 23 times, compared to five for Puget Sound.

Just last week it looked like there may be new queens of NESCAC basketball. But unranked Bowdoin, who has won the conference the past seven years, is not ready to give up its throne.

The Polar Bears dropped No. 17 Amherst 72-61 behind 23 points and 17 rebounds from Jill Anelauskas. Bowdoin sits a half-game in front of No. 15 Tufts, which handed Wesleyan its first conference loss, 66-51. Williams also has one loss while Amherst slips into fifth place. The Bowdoin and Tufts wins loom even larger since NESCAC teams do not play each other twice in regular season conference play.

The number of undefeated women’s teams remains at three. No. 2 Howard Payne had the toughest test on paper, but still aced it in beating Hardin-Simmons, 67-51. The Yellow Jackets will hit the road for Abilene, Texas where they’ll meet No. 6 McMurry and the Cowgirls again. No. 1 Hope and No. 5 Thomas More also kept their perfect records intact. Saturday's women's scoreboard.

No. 25 Baldwin-Wallace took a share of first in the OAC with a 62-56 win at Ohio Northern. The Polar Bears picked up their fourth loss of the season, but all four have come to ranked opponents. No. 18 Illinois Wesleyan moved into a first-place tie with Carthage in the CCIW by beating the Lady Reds behind Mallory Heydorn's 20 points.

Emory and Henry (6-12, 4-9) stunned No. 19 Randolph-Macon 76-68 but No. 16 William Smith took care of business against St. Lawrence, 75-62. Erin Cunningham scored 22 points in the Herons' 13th consecutive victory. Maryville (Mo.) won its 70th consecutive SLIAC game, winning 82-55 at Eureka.
