U of R sweeps in OT
The University of Rochester swept two overtime games from Washington U. and the men's team gained a share of first place in the UAA standings in the process.

The No. 3 Yellowjacket men needed buzzer beaters in both halves and two four-point plays from Rob Dominiak to force overtime, then held off the No. 1 Bears 73-70 in front of a packed house. The loss ended Wash U's 12-game winning streak. Dominiak finished with 21 points, including 5-for-7 shooting from three-point range, and Uche Ndbuizu added 20 for the Yellowjackets (16-1).

"We’re not going to take a whole lot of credit," Rochester coach Mike Neer said after the game. "We got one on our home court. We’ve got to go to St. Louis and do it again. But more importantly, we’ve got to do this again Sunday (against Chicago)."

In the women's game, No. 10 Rochester converted 20 offensive rebounds into 13 second-chance points and held off Wash U. 58-55 in overtime. Alex Porter scored a career-high 25 points.

Emory continued NYU's slide, hitting 12 of 24 from three-point range in beating the No. 20 Violets 80-60. Erica Kaplan led the Eagles with 18 points. Friday's men's and women's scores.

The No. 11 Centre men rallied from a 16-point deficit to beat Trinity 78-69, outscoring the Tigers 11-2 in the extra period to remain unbeaten in the SCAC. Matt Nestheide scored a season-high 23 for the Colonels. No. 2 Amherst survived Colby at home, 72-66, while its Saturday opponent, Bowdoin, beat Trinity (Conn.) in double overtime. No. 17 Stevens beat Nazareth 76-73 in a wild finish. Ryan McAdam's 22 points and 15 rebounds weren't enough to counter Virgil Gray's 25 points and Anthony Passalacqua's 17.

No. 12 George Fox and Puget Sound each won to set up their Saturday Northwest Conference showdown. The Wesleyan women remained unbeaten in the NESCAC as Lucy Sprung scored 27 to help the Cardinals rally from a 13-point deficit to beat Bates 66-55. Wesleyan faces Tufts on Saturday. Hamilton swept St. Lawrence in Liberty League play, with the women winning in overtime.

Wacky WIAC's new leader
At the dawn of the D3hoops.com era, there was one dominant team in Division III men's basketball: the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. But that was so long ago, the site was still named Division III Basketball Online.

Bo Ryan left for Division I UW-Milwaukee. And the dominance left with him. The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has turned into a topsy-turvy league where almost nothing is predictable. But after a couple of false starts, the Pioneers appear to have at least returned to conference contention, as one of two teams tied for first place entering the weekend and one of four teams ranked in the D3hoops.com Top 25.

Like any WIAC team, the road hasn't been easy. D3sports.com's Matt Florjancic takes a look at what makes Paul Combs' Pioneers tick. Plus scroll down for more feature coverage and this week's Around the Nation column.

Friday is another big night in men's basketball in particular, as No. 1 Washington U. visits No. 3 Rochester. Pat Coleman is braving the roads this morning and afternoon to make the trip, but you can listen in on that game with the Live Games box on the right-hand side of this page. D3hoopsNet will be carrying the game between Nazareth and No. 17 Stevens. Can the Ducks bounce back from Tuesday's loss against a team that took them to double overtime in January?

Friday's men's and women's schedule.
