Capital assistant, Wooster standout, to coach Thomas More Thomas More president, Sr. Margaret Stallmeyer, C.D.P, announced the hiring of John Ellenwood as head men's coach, effective July 5. Ellenwood is replacing former head coach Terry Connor, who resigned his position to focus solely on the role of athletic director at Thomas More.
Ellenwood will be the seventh head coach in the 55-year history of the men's basketball program at Thomas More. He has more than six years of experience as an assistant coach, including the last three years as an assistant basketball coach at Capital. Prior to this, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Ohio Wesleyan.
"We are thrilled to welcome John to the Thomas More community and we look forward to him leading the men's basketball program," said Connor. "He's a quality individual that has experienced success as a player and coach."
Ellenwood, 29, is a native of Sylvania, Ohio. He was a three-time first team All-North Coast Athletic Conference as a player at Wooster, where he earned a bachelor's degree in psychology. He received his master's degree in education/sports management from Bowling Green. He and his wife, Abbi, currently reside in Bexley, Ohio.
