Western Maryland fell to Maryland-Baltimore County 83-79 on a day (Dec.
20) when several Division III schools took on scholarship competition.
The Green Terror cut into a 42-27 deficit, taking a two-point lead early
in the second half. Brian Tombs hit five three-pointers and Brian Billman
scored 19 to lead Western Maryland.
In other games, VMI beat Lynchburg, Navy
beat Gettysburg, Stetson beat Catholic, the Citadel beat Greensboro and
Eastern Illinois beat Washington & Jefferson.
Adam Doll, Ronda Miller
Atop Leaders
Simpson junior center Adam Doll leads Division III with 17.0 rebounds
per game and is fourth with 28.4 points per game, according to the first
set of men's statistics, released by the NCAA Dec. 17. Gallaudet's Ronda
Miller leads women's scorers with 28.1 points per game and is second with
20.1 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots.

Morrison Shoots Down
DePauw Mark
Kelly Morrison's first-half three-pointer in a Dec. 12 win against Dominican
set the DePauw women's basketball career mark for three-point field goals.
It was her 92nd career three-pointer, breaking the mark set by Donna Roy.
The 5-8 junior from Warren, Ind. has hit 17 of 35 treys this season coming
off the bench.
Gorman Sets School Steals
Record
Ryan Gorman of Wooster set a school record with seven steals in the Scots'
90-45 victory against Earlham Dec. 13. For the season, he is averaging
17.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. The 6-6 junior forward
is shooting 73.7% from the field for the 6-2 Scots.
Clement Breaks Own Three-Point
Record
Grinnell's Jeff Clement raised the bar another notch with an NCAA-record
17 three-point baskets, breaking his own all-divisions record of 16 set
in February. Clement scored 58 points on 17-for-38 shooting from three-point
range in a 137-108 victory against Clarke.
