2002 milestones

Danni Hannon, a senior forward player for Saint Benedict, scored her 1,000th career point in the squad's 87-69 victory over St. Catherine's on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003.

Danni came into this season needing 300 points to reach the milestone. With her 22 point performance against St. Catherine's, Hannon became the thirteenth player in the history of the CSB program to reach this milestone.

Hannon began her career at St. Benedict starting every JV game with a knee brace that her surgeon required her to wear, as she was recuperating from ACL knee reconstruction done in January of her senior year of high school. She missed scoring her 1,000 points for her four-year high school career by 38 points with at least eight games left, making reaching the milestone in college more meaningful. She also only played 53 varsity minutes as a freshmen in college and scored 17 points.

During the summer before her sophomore season, she got rid of the knee brace, got in shape and then started every varsity game. She was averaging 11.5 points per game and was CSB's Most Improved Player and named to the MIAC All-Conference team.

Last year as a junior, Hannon was a captain, started every game and averaged 13.3 points per game and was once again named to the MIAC All-Conference squad. Hannon also got to experience international play as the team played three games in Australia in May 2002.

This, Hannon's last season with St. Ben's, she is a second time captain. Hannon is averaging 14.5 points per game, 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shooting 54% from the floor, 39% from 3-point range and 76% from the line. She has lead the MIAC for the past 12 weeks in assist-to-turnover ratio.

Hannon had a 3.67 GPA after the fall semester while trying to juggle classes, practice, games and homework. When she has spare time, she also drives the school bus called The Link that connects CSB to neighboring St. John's 4 miles away. This Spring 2003 semester she is student teaching a 1st grade class in St. Cloud, Minn., for eight weeks and then a 5th grade math class in Waite Park for eight weeks.
