Wilkes,
Cortland women lose;
Wilkes, which entered the game 16-0, appeared to have a decided advantage with Dickerson ill and No. 2 scorer Dennis Hobbs missing nearly a week of action and playing with an injured foot. But the Monarchs (14-5, 6-4 MAC Freeedom) came out of the gates to control the first half while building a 24-15 points lead thanks in large part to two monster dunks by Kevin Vincavage. The Monarchs would extend the lead to 28-18 on a Dickerson bucket, but the Colonels (16-1, 9-1) would close out the half with a 9-4 run to come to within 32-27. After a steal by Plisko on the inbound pass, Jannuzzi got the ball near the left sideline and Monarch rookie Brian Horgan made the defensive play of the game when he tied up the Colonel standout and forced a jump ball with the arrow pointing to King's. From there, Hobbs was fouled and hit both tosses to up the Monarch lead to ice the game.
