Illinois Wesleyan 77, UW-Stevens Point 64

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Illijnois Wesleyan women's basketball team got four players in double figure scoring and advanced to the final eight of the NCAA Division III tournament with a 77-64 win over Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Friday, March 13.

The 30-0 Titans, who have never advanced beyond the second round before, will host Washington U. (24-4) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 with the winner advancing to the round of four at Hope College in Holland, Mich. and would play the winner of the Amherst/Brandeis game on March 14.

The Titans got 18 points and 13 rebounds from junior Christina Solari while senior Claire Sheehan added 15, sophomore Hope Schuilte scored 11 and snared seven rebounds and senior Colleen Caplice also scored 10.

IWU shot 52 percent (29 of 56) from the field in the game while limiting the Pointers to 37 percent shooting (25 of 68). IWU also made 14 of 16 free throws and were guilty of only eight turnovers.

Wisconsin-Stevens Point also had four players in double figures, led by Jessi Sporle with 15 and Ashley Baker with 14. The Pointers outrebounded IWU, 38-35.
