Mississippi College 69, Maryville (Tenn.) 51

CLINTON, MS — The eighth-ranked Mississippi College Choctaws (29-1) outscored Maryville College (21-7) 45-25 in the second half to pull away for a 69-51 win and advance to their second consecutive appearance in the "Sweet Sixteen" where they will face Transylvania University. The win was the 24th straight for the Choctaws.

Mississippi College opened the second half on an 8-0 run to erase a 24-22 halftime deficit. The Choctaws put the game away midway through the second half using a 19-5 run to lead 57-40 with just over seven minutes remaining.

High scorer for the Choctaws was Devin Jones who finished with 16 points on 5-5 shooting from the floor. Orlando Lewis added 15 points on 6-7 shooting including 3-4 from three point range. Timothy Bromfield added nine points and a game high nine rebounds.

Maryville was led by Bobby Golden who scored 16 points before fouling out late in the game. Bradley Blair also added 16 points and five rebounds.

The Choctaws will find out tomorrow where their "Sweet Sixteen" game will be held. Hope College and Wittenberg University are the other teams remaining in the bracket.

The sectional games will be played next Friday and Saturday with one of the four remaining schools hosting.
