Farmingdale State 71, Kean 63

Farmingdale, NY — Senior center Melissa Harry (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) and sophomore forward Mercedes Miller (New York, NY/Manhattan Center) both finished with double-doubles, leading third-seeded Farmingdale State (20-9) to a 73-61 victory over fifth-seed Kean University (15-12) for the Rams’ first-ever ECAC Metro women’s basketball crown. Miller tallied 16 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks, while Harry totaled 18 points, 15 rebounds and one block. Miller received MVP-honors in the ECAC Div. III Metro Women’s Basketball Championship.

Junior guard Rochelle Clark (Bellport, NY/Bellport) finished with 12 points, a game-high seven steals and a game-high five assists for Farmingdale State. Sophomore guard Dankery Perez (New York, NY/Manhattan Center) added 9 points for the Rams.

For Kean University, junior guard Francine Bell (Orange, NJ/West Side) had a game-high 19 points, including a perfect nine from the free throw line. Bell also tallied five boards, one block. Junior forward Chi Clark (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) and sophomore forward Chari’ Cooper (Paulsboro, NJ/Paulsboro) both finished with double-doubles as well. Clark added 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Cooper added 11 points and grabbed a game-high 21 rebounds.

Farmingdale State finishes their season with an overall record of 20-9 and 8-3 in the Skyline Conference. Kean University drops to 17-12 for the season with a 10-8 record in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
