Plattsburgh State 85, Oswego State 77

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- — Kris Gibbs-Smith scored a career-high 35 points and pulled down a game-best 11 rebounds to pace Plattsburgh State to an 85-77 victory Tuesday over Oswego State at Memorial Hall, snapping the Lakers' winning streak at six games. With its third win in a row, the Cardinals move to 11-7 overall and 5-5 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. Oswego came into tonight tied atop the SUNYAC men's basketball standings with Cortland, both 9-1 in conference, but the Lakers fell to 15-4 and suffered only their second loss in 11 league games.

Gibbs-Smith held a hot-hand in the first half by making 11 of 16 field goals, including all 3-point attempts, for 27 points at the intermission. As a team, Plattsburgh shot 58.8 percent from the floor to take a 47-41 lead into the locker room. Mike Dietz and Brian Hatch, both with 14 points, and Anthony Williams, 11, also scored in double figures.

The Lakers had five players in double digits: Ahmad Mims, Mat Burridge and Kyle Reuter, all with 16, Todd Franze had 11 and Erik Roberson, 10.

The game featured 14 ties and 10 lead changes and the teams combined for only 18 turnovers.
