Western New England 97, Albertus Magnus 52

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Senior guard Jon Godbout (Bristol, CT) tied his career high with 28 points and tied the school record for career three-pointers as Western New England College rolled to an easy 97-52 victory over Albertus Magnus College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest.

Godbout made 8-of-12 shots from three-point territory to tie the school mark of 171 previously established by Gerry Toney (2000-04).

The win also was the 200th for Western New England College coach Mike Theulen who had a total of 173 victories (132 men, 41 women) while at Springfield College in the 1980's and 1990's.

Western New England College sank 16-of-35 three-pointers for another school mark smashing the old record of 12 last set against Daniel Webster in 2004.

Sophomore guard Ryan Hernandez (Hampton Bays, NY) contributed 14 points coming off the bench while freshman guard Matt Maynard (Paterson, NJ) added 13 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

All 14 players scored for the Golden Bears who evened their record at 9-9 while improving to 7-4 in the conference.

Freshman guard Shawn Mendenhall (Bridgeport, CT) led the Falcons with 13 points while senior guard Victor Purnell (Los Angeles, CA) chipped in with 11 points.

Albertus Magnus, which had only seven players in uniform, scored the first five points of the game and held a 16-15 lead at the 10:20 mark of the opening half. The Falcons fall to 2-15 overall and 2-10 in the GNAC.
