USMMA came out fair leading by as many as three points in the opening five minutes of play, but it was all an uphill fight from there. Staten Island dominated the next ten minutes of play with a 21-4 run to take a 16 point lead with 5:48 left in the half. The Dolphins took a 42-20 lead into the break.
Things got no better in the second half for Kings Point. The Mariners trailed by as many as 37 points en route to suffering one of the worst defeats on the season.
The difference in the game came from beyond the arc. Kings Point hoisted up 21 three pointers and cashed in on just two, while Staten Island (10-9) was 10-of-21 from downtown.
Senior Zach Wyatt led the way for the Mariners with 18 points and eight rebounds in just 27 minutes of play. Junior Brain Kelly added 10 in the loss. Meanwhile the Dolphins were led by four in double-figures. Dennis Echols led the way with 19 points, while Mike Comick notched 18. Jeremy Smalls notched 15 points off the bench. Gari Blackett contributed with 11.
