The Lions trailed by two (22-20) with 7:58 remaining in the first-half only to see the hosts use a quick 17-5 run to eventually take a 66-46 advantage into intermission. From there the rivalry game was played pretty evenly with the Lions trimming the host's lead to 15 points (104-89) with 5:06 remaining, but NGC&SU would rally to finish the game on an 18-5 run.
Guards Mike Adams and David Adcock pitched in with 17 and 13 points respectively as the duo combined for five three-point baskets.
The host Saints were aided by a 23-point advantage from the free throw line as they made 39-46 charity shots compared to the Lions' 16-19.
The loss drops Piedmont to 10-9 overall on the season. The Lions will return to action on Thursday, February 2nd with a non-conference home contest against local rival Toccoa Falls College with tip-off set for 7:00 in PC's Johnny Mize Athletic Center.
