The Warrior men pulled off a much-need victory Sunday afternoon as they beat the Sewanee Tigers 73-67 on their home court. The Warriors ended a six-game conference slide after starting 2-0 in league play. The Warriors received a spark from the bench as Michael Bennett scored 11 of his 15 points in the closing half to bring the Warriors from behind for the win. Bennett finished with six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
The Warriors found themselves down at the half 31-27 after the Tigers hit six threes in the period. Hendrix shot 42 percent from the field in the half. Andrew King had nine while Justin Wagner and John Paul Noland supplied seven each.
The Warriors came out strong to open the second half hitting their first three possessions to grab a one-point lead 34-33. By the 10 minute mark, the Tigers gained an 11 point lead on the home team. The Warriors would not go away as they went on a 13-2 run to tie the game at 59 a piece with 4:30 remaining. By the closing minute, the Warriors ran the gauntlet again with a 12-3 run to go up nine on the Tigers.
King finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Noland had 16 points, five assists and five steals. Matt Secrease served up 13 points with three long balls on the day.
The men travel to Depauw University on Friday and to Rose-Hulman on Sunday.
