Thomas More 73, Thiel 66

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky — The inside duo of senior R.K. Thurman and E.J. Haynes Combined for 40 points and 21 rebounds as Thomas More posted a home Presidents' Athletic Conference win, beating Thiel, 73-66, at Connor Convocation Center.

The duo helped Thomas More outrebound the Tomcats, 51-31, which led to a 20-8 advantage in second chance points.

Thurman pounded away at the Tomcats for 15 of his 23 in the first half. With his 23, Thurman needs 21 points to be the 26th player in school history to score 1,000 career points. He added 11 rebounds, one block and a steal.

Haynes followed by muscling his way dropping 18 of his 21 in the second half. Haynes came up three blocks shy of a triple-double, securing 10 rebounds and seven blocks.

Thomas More opened the half with Haynes keying a 20-8 run that gave them breathing room and a 14-point advantage. The junior center scored 10 points during that stretch.

The Tomcats trimmed the lead to five points, but Thurman and Haynes helped slam the door shut, scoring six points down the stretch.

Freshman Matt Tierney added 11 points and two boards for TMC, while junior Garry Horton added nine points and eight rebounds.

Thomas More improves to 2-18 overall, 2-5 PAC, and will face league-leading Bethany 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Steven Laird led four Tomcats (2-17, 0-7) in double figures with 13 points, while Andre Jones was a rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
