Suffolk 78, Western New England 67

Boston — Suffolk went on a 10-0 run with four minutes left in the game to take a seven-point lead as the Rams defeated Western New England 78-67 in a GNAC game at Regan Gym Saturday. Suffolk is now 8-9 overall, 6-4 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. WNEC is 8-9, 6-4 in GNAC play.

Suffolk freshman guard Sam Tully (San Paulo, Brazil) tied the game at 64-64 on a three point shot and then junior guard John Murphy (N. Reading, MA) scored on a three-point shot and added a layup with 3:29 left before sophomore guard Chris MacDonald (Brewster, MA) scored to give the Rams a 71-64 lead.

WNEC came back to within six, 73-67 with 1:05 left on a layup from Jon Godbout (Bristol, CT). Murphy then scored five more points for the Rams in the final 42 seconds of the game. Murphy finished with 25 points to lead all scorers. Tully finished with 13 points, coming off the bench and MacDonald had 14 points.

WNEC had four players in double figures. Godbout led WNEC with 14 points and Bryan Hernandez (Hampton, NY) finished with 11. Deon Thomas (Albany, NY) and Matt Maynard (Paterson, NJ) each had 10 points.
