The Bobcats built a four-point halftime lead, but surrendered it quickly in the second half. Trailing for much of the second frame, the Bobcats staged a late rally, and eventually took a one-point lead on an Ed Montgomery jumper with less than 15 seconds remaining. However, with less than one second on the clock, the Lions J.J. Ferguson drew a foul call, and sank one of two free throws to send the game to overtime.
After trading buckets in overtime, the game remained tied with less than ten seconds left to play, when Bobcat sophomore forward Daniel Waajid grabbed an offensive rebound and connected on the put back for the game-winning bucket.
The Bobcats received an outstanding performance from freshman guard Matt Rowland who scored a team-high 21 points. Rowland single handedly kept the Bobcats alive in the first half by netting 19 points and connecting on five three-point field goals. Duke Cooper added 14 points and four assists, while David Winfrey and Waajid contributed 12 and 10 points respectively.
The Lions were led by Kevin Buczynski who had a remarkable game. The sophomore center garnered 31 points on 14 of 17 shooting from the field. J.J. Ferguson added 19 points.
The Bobcats next contest will come Tuesday, January 31, when they host Mount Aloysius College. Game time is set for 8:00 PM.
