Baldwin-Wallace 93, Marietta 66

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College men's basketball team knew coming into Saturday's (Jan. 28) match-up that it had its hands full, as first place and eighth-ranked Baldwin-Wallace visited Fenton Court for an Ohio Athletic Conference showdown. The Pioneers hung with the Yellow Jackets for a little over 27 minutes, before the visitors pulled away down the stretch for a 93-66 victory.

With the win, Baldwin-Wallace improved to 17-2 on the year and 11-1 in league play, while Marietta fell to 4-15, 1-11 in OAC.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out early 14-4 after the first five minutes of play, before the Pioneers battled back with a 13-2 run, capped by an Isaiah Creasap three-pointer, to take the lead 17-16 with 11:22 remaining in the half.

At the three-minute mark, Baldwin-Wallace led 32-29, but a Tori Davis jumper sparked a 9-2 run to end the half, giving the Yellow Jackets a 44-31 advantage at intermission.

The Pioneers pulled within five points, 50-45, with 14:33 to play in the game, but another Yellow-Jacket run put the game out of reach.

Marietta finished the afternoon 22-of-65 (.338) from the field, including 12-of-36 (.333) from long range. The Pioneers pulled down 30 rebounds and had 18 turnovers in the loss.
