Lycoming 88, FDU-Florham 80

MADISON, NJ -- — The College at Florham Devils were beaten by the Lycoming Warriors 88-80. FDU drops to 4-15 overall and 1-7 in the Freedom Conference. Lycoming improves to 10-9 overall and 4-4 in the Freedom.

The Devils recovered from an early 10-0 deficit. The Warriors got out to the 10-0 advantage in less than four minutes by making three of their first four field goal attempts, two from three-point land, and making both of their first two free throw attempts. The Devils answered by outscoring Lycoming 24-7 over the next 7:16 to build a 24-17 lead with 8:58 left in the first half.

Lycoming finished the half with a 23-8 run spanning the final 6:01 of the half to hold a 44-37 advantage at the half. Over the stretch, the Warriors scored 15 points from the foul line as the made 15 of 18 attempts. In the first half, the Devils were whistled for 16 fouls to Lycoming’s eight.

In the second half, the Devils cut the Lycoming lead from nine points to two. With 7:58 left to play, a three-pointer from freshman forward Andrew Biancosino (Edison, NJ) got the Devils within two points at 64-62.

The Devils got as close as five points on five occasions in the final 4:21, and trailed by five with 27 seconds left to play, but the Warriors made seven of eight free throws from that point on to keep the game out of reach.

For FDU, freshman center James McClendon (Poughkeepsie, NY) scored a team-best 18 points, leading five Devils in double-figures. Biancosino added 14 markers and five rebounds. Junior forward Pierre Schmitt (Park Ridge, NJ) added 11 points and five boards. Junior guard Frank Emslie (Hazlet, NJ) chipped in 11 points. Junior guard Brian Dillon (West Orange, NJ) chipped in 10 points and had a career-high seven assists, going the whole game without a turnover.

For Lycoming, Jonathan Pribble scored a game-high 28 points, making nine of 12 free throw attempts. Greg Sye added 22 points, making eight free throws in eight attempts. Kevin Morris chipped in 19 points.

The Devils will travel to Delaware Valley for a Freedom Conference game. Tipoff is set for 8:00 pm.
