The victory gives ETBU (10-9, 10-6) a perfect 3-0 mark on this week's three-game homestand and leaves the Tigers in sole possession of third place in the ASC East Division. Defending conference champion UT-Dallas falls to 6-11 overall and 6-8 in the conference.
ETBU locked down on the Comets from the outset, jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first seven minutes. UTD did not put a point on the board until after the first media timeout at the 13-minute mark. The Comets' cold start against the Tiger defense allowed ETBU to cruise to a 40-20 lead by halftime.
But UTD managed to cut the deficit to only 6 with over 3 minutes remaining in in the game before the Tigers managed to hold them off by making free throws down the stretch. It also helped ETBU's cause that senior All-American Cedric Isom broke out of a long scoring slump with a game-high 21 points on 7 of 13 shooting, including a 3 of 4 performance from beyond the 3-point line.
Isom also finished with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. He was joined in double figures by Chris Isom, who finished with another double double -- 10 points and 11 rebounds to go along with a game-high 7 assists.
Michael Keys scored 12 points off the bench, his third straight game in double figures.
UTD was paced by 16 points apiece from Kersh Milson and Adam Bush. Martin Salinas chipped in 14 points.
