Vassar 69, Skidmore 55

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — Vassar's men's basketball team led from start to finish on the way to a 69-55 Liberty League men's basketball win over Skidmore College, Friday night at the Sports and Recreation Center.

Hot first-half shooting allowed the Brewers to build a 41-19 halftime lead. Vassar (10-6, 2-4 Liberty) hit 15 of 31 from the floor and 6 of 12 from three-point range in the first half.

Brian Butterworth (Hamilton, Mass.) scored 13 points off the bench for the Brewers, while Lawrence Avitabile (Southington, Conn.) had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Jonah Haviland-Markowitz (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Skidmore (4-12, 1-5) with 12 points and six rebounds.

The Thoroughbreds host Rensselaer on Saturday at 4 p.m. Vassar is at Union College at 4 p.m.
