ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca retained a share of first place in the Empire 8 standings, erasing a five-point Alfred lead in the final two minutes of regulation and winning 83-76 in overtime. Senior guard Jonathan Whetstone (Palo Alto/Palo Alto, Calif.) scored a career-high 20 points and senior guard Jim Bellis (Bloomfield/East Bloomfield) finished with 22 -- leaving him two short of becoming the program's 15th 1,000-point scorer.

Senior guard Quentin Bryant (Seneca Vocational/Buffalo) scored a game-high 25 points to pace Alfred, adding five rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Todd Dersham (Campbell-Savona/Campbell) netted 14 points off the bench.

The Bombers (8-8, 5-1 E8) host #22 St. John Fisher Saturday at 4 p.m.; the two teams are tied with Utica atop the Empire 8 standings. Alfred (7-10, 1-5 E8) plays at Elmira.
