UW-Stevens Point vs. UW-Whitewater Dec 06
UW-Whitewater upped its all-time mark to 9-0 against Marian College with an 83-63 win in Kachel Gym in Williams Center Thursday night.
Whitewater led 42-15 at the half, with Marian shooting 5-21 (24%) from the floor. The 15 points are the fewest Whitewater has given up in a half this season. Whitewater's bulge went to 50-19 at 17:07 on a dunk by senior forward Melvin Williams. Both teams emptied their bench, with Marian using 15 players and Whitewater 14 in the contest. The final margin was the closest Marian got in the game.
Whitewater was led by senior guard Craig Anderson, with sophomore center Josh King adding 11, and junior center Andy Freund contributing 10. The Sabres had four players in double figures, all with ten points. The group included senior guard Nick Vogt, senior guard Jake Harmsen, junior forward Titus Redmond, and sophomore forward Greg Gigiel.
Whitewater went 20-28 from the line and Marian 9-12. The Warhawks also enjoyed a 38-22 rebound advantage.
UW-Whitewater is now 13-4 overall, Marian is 6-15. Whitewater is in the "others receiving votes" category in the poll of Division III teams conducted by D3hoops.com. Thursday's game was UW-W's final non-conference contest of the 2005-2006 season. The Warhawks went 6-2 in non-league games.
The Warhawks' next home game is Saturday, January 28th at 5:00 versus UW-Stout in the Kachel Gym of the Williams Center in Whitewater.
