Nichols 68, Newbury 37

Dudley, MA — Freshman MaryLynn Skarzenski notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists to lead Nichols past non-conference foe Newbury College, 68-37, tonight on the campus of Nichols College. Nichols is now 10-6 overall and 7-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Newbury College is now 2-13.

Nichols built a 32-19 halftime lead and never looked back. The Bison only committed seven turnovers and had 11 steals, while Newbury shot only 20 percent from the floor on the night.

Skarzenski (Woodbridge, NJ) finished the night with five rebounds and three steals to go along with her 11 points and 10 assists. Senior Heather Clarke (Henniker, NH) added 10 points and three steals while senior forward Katie Mitchell (Goffstown, NH) added eight points, six rebounds and two assists.

Newbury senior guard Randi Hardiman (Loudon, NH) finished the game with 23 points, while junior center Taraja Laws (Easton, PA) had 24 rebounds (16 defensive) in the loss.

Nichols next match is a Commonwealth Coast Conference game against Curry at 1 p.m. in Dudley (MA).
