DUDLEY, MA —
Clark University sophomore Dominique Beck had 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to lead Clark University past Nichols College, 75-67, last night in a non-conference game at Nichols College. Nichols College is now 6-9 overall and 3-5 in the CCC, while Clark improved to 9-9 in overall play.

Beck hit 3-of-4 from the 3-point arc and shot 50 percent from the field. He also had three steals in 33 minutes of play. Junior Asher Cowan added 15 points all from the 3-point line.

Nichols fell behind 41-25 in the first half as the Bison committed 19 turnovers and shot 30 percent from the field. The Bison mounted a comeback to start the second half with a 7-2 run sparked by a two lay-ups and a steal by freshman Jah’maine Mercer. Clark then hit two straight 3-pointers by Alfred Thomas and Beck to keep a lead over the Bison, 49-37. The closest Nichols got was three points with 10:05 to play when sophomore Chris Vallee hit a jumper from the baseline. The teams exchanged baskets but two lay-ups by senior Tim Dutille stretched the Clark lead to 59-52 with eight minutes to play. Nichols continued to battle but the Bison went 4-for-11 from the charity stripe and could not cut the Clark lead.

Nichols sophomore Justin Lewis finished with 21 points, five rebounds and six steals, while Vallee added 13 points and seven rebounds. Mercer finished the game with 10 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Nichols will host Curry College on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game.
