Bodrick's 51 points surpassed the previous single-game high of 43, set twice by Tricia Kocenina '94 in 1991 and 1992. Bodrick also grabbed 11 rebounds and recorded five steals.
Down 39-32 at the half, the Tomcats (6-13, 4-2) used a 17-4 run midway through the second half to go up by two (55-53) with 9:42 to play. The Bison (6-13, 2-4) countered with a 12-2 run to give themselves an eight-point (65-57) advantage with 4:36 remaining.
After the fifth tie of the game at 68-68 Bethany's Caelyn DiSanti put the visitors up three (71-68) after making a lay up and converting the following free throw with four seconds to play. Junior forward Fontella Jones was fouled on a three-point attempt with 0.00 remaining on the clock, giving her the opportunity to tie the game and send it into overtime. Jones knocked down all three of her free throws to extend the game for Thiel.
Bethany's Mandi Swiger hit a jumper to push the Bison out in front by four (80-76) with 2:36 to go in the overtime, but Thiel used a 12-2 sput to go up six (88-82) with 20 seconds to play. Lisa Mitchell cut the Tomcat lead to three (90-87) with her three-pointer with eight seconds remaining before Bodrick knocked down points 50 and 51 from the line to put Thiel up five (92-87) with eight seconds. DiSanti's lay up with one second moved the Bison back to within three (92-89) before Thiel was able to secure the inbounds pass and the three-point win.
Bethany shot 49.3 percent (36-73) from the field and 50.0 percent (6-12) from three-point range while finishing with a 42-37 advantage on the glass. Mitchell paced the Bison with 18 points and six rebounds. Courtney Irwin finished with 17 points and four rebounds while Jenny Place added 15 and seven boards. Renee Shehady rounded out the double figure scorers with 11.
Thiel hit 46.2 percent (30-65) of the field goals and 38.9 percent (7-18) of their three-point attempts. Junior forward Nicole Valentino tallied 19 points and five rebounds while senior guard Heather Abate added 11 points and three rebounds.
Thiel will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 28 when they travel to PAC newcomer Thomas More College. Tip off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
