ROCKFORD, Ill. — The Rockford College men’s basketball team defeated the Eureka College Red Devils tonight, 78-64. The Regents are now 2-2 in the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference, while the Red Devils fall to 0-5. The game started off in the Red Devils’ favor, running their lead up as many as seven points before the Regents got the game under control. A Red Devil layup tied up the game, but the Regents replied with a 16-point scoring run before the Red Devils replied with 4:07 left in the half. At the half, the Regents were up 31-23. In the second half, the Regent lead fluctuated anywhere from 4 to 20 points, but they held the lead the entire half to come away with the win, 78-64.
The Regents were led in scoring by Jacob Dunkel (South Beloit, IL/South Beloit), who had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 blocks. Lane Good (Chrisman, IL/Chrisman) tipped in 15 points, and Maurice Smith (Loves Park, IL/Harlem) had 13 points and 8 rebounds. The Regents return to action on Saturday against Clarke College at Seaver PE Center.
