Mary Washington 85, Marymount 79

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Freshman forward Matt Treacy scored a career-high 25 points in leading all five UMW starters in double figures, as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team topped Marymount University, 85-79, on Wednesday night in Capital Athletic Conference action at Goolrick Gymnasium. The Eagles remained tied for first in the CAC with a 5-2 league mark, while the Saints fall to 2-5.
Treacy gave the Eagles the early lead, netting 16 points in the first half, including four three pointers, and added two more triples in the second half. Sophomore forward Jon Pierce scored 19 for UMW, and sophomore guard Justin Baker scored 14 points and added ten assists and eight rebounds. Freshman center Kiernan Whitworth scored 12 points, and junior guard Mike Lee added ten points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Marymount was led by Brandon Parker's 17 points and Corey Diamond's 15.
The Eagles will host St. Mary's College on Saturday at 4 pm in another CAC tilt.
