Lehman (9-10, 5-4 CUNY) held a fifteen point lead at halftime, which extended to twenty-four, before a furious Medgar Evers comeback saw the Cougars trim the lead to six. But timely outside shooting by the Lightning helped Lehman hold on to the lead.
Lehman also received strong performances from the backcourt of senior Willy Vargas, and freshman Duane Rhoden who each tallied eleven points, while senior forward Franky Gedeon chipped in with ten points.
For Medgar Evers, Perry Wilkes finished with 29 points and Travis Kennedy also scored 16 points for the Cougars.
Up next for Lehman is a home conference match-up, this Saturday, Janaury 28th against Hunter College. Tip-off is scheduled for 12pm.
