The Knights (11-5, 9-3 in the MIAC) won their ninth consecutive MIAC contest, shooting 55 percent for the game (31-56).
Carleton jumped out to a 20-5 lead after seven minutes of play. Knight Jay Melson hit a pair of layups to end the spurt. Carleton would lead by as many as 19 in the first half before Hamline (8-9, 6-6) cut the lead to 37-24 at the half.
The Pipers whittled the lead down to nine points on several occasions, but the Knights went on a 17-4 run to put the game away.
Hamline was led by Tony Thrasher, who scored 17 points - 14 in the second half - on 7 of 12 shooting. Jon DeRock added 15 points while Kyle Foster chipped in 14.
Phillips paced five Knights in double figures. Zach Johnson netted 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting. Tommy Drake and Dan Forkrud each totaled 13 points. Melson scored 11 points off the bench.
Phillips ended the game with 23 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
The Pipers shot a respectable 41 percent for the game, but were held to 28 percent shooting in the first half (9-32).
