KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men’s basketball team (6-11, 2-4 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) won its first second-straight CCIW game on Wednesday, Jan. 25 with a 90-63 win over North Park University (3-15, 1-6 CCIW) at the Carthage Physical Education Center in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage opened up a 17-point lead in the first half, 40-23, at 2:48 and led by 14 points at halftime, 42-28. In the second half, the Red Men bumped their lead to 22 points, 60-38, at 12:13 and 30 points, 87-57, at 2:56. Carthage went on to win by 27, 90-63. The Red Men shot 59 percent (35-59), while the Vikings shot 45 percent (25-56). The Red Men’s Kyle Jeffery matched his career high with 30 points on 13-of-17 field goals, including four-of-six three-pointers, along with seven rebounds. Malik Imani had 17 points, and Evan Guay chipped in 11 points. Brett Mathisen led the Vikings with 22 points and five rebounds, while Jay Alexander added 12 points and five rebounds. Carthage travels to Bloomington, Ill., on Saturday, Jan. 28 to take on No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan University (14-3, 4-3 CCIW) at the Shirk Center (7:30 p.m.).
