Utica never trailed as they got out to a 19-9 lead after a 3-pointer by Doug Herring (Poughkeepsie/Newburgh) mid-way through the first half.
Utica went into the half with a 34-21 lead after shooting 45% from the floor (14-of-31) and holding Hobart to just 27% shooting (6-of-22).
The Pioneers outscored the Statesmen 39-33 in the second half to cruise to a 19 point victory.
Justin Cichon (New Hartford/New Hartford) tallied a game high 24 points, while Ray Bryant (Manhattan Center/Utica), who was recently named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week, tallied 21 points and 10 rebounds. Bryant has tallied four double-doubles this season including two in the past two games. Herring collected 15 points and five assists for the Pioneers.
Jack Lighthall (Adirondack/Booneville) scored six points on four-of-six shooting from the free throw line, while Willie Lucas Nazareth Regional/Brooklyn) and Shawn Brown (Boys and Girls/Brooklyn) combined for four points and seven rebounds. Brian Collier (Norwich/Norwich) added three points, four rebounds and four assists in the win.
Utica (13-2, 4-1 Empire 8), who is currently tied for first place in the Empire 8, will travel to Nazareth College Friday January, 27 at 7 p.m.
