Williams 68, Hamilton 65

CLINTON, N.Y. — Chris Rose '08 scored a game-high 21 points to lead visiting Williams College to a 68-65 non-conference win against Hamilton College at Scott Field House on Jan. 24.

Rose went 5-for-10 from three-point range and was 6-for-12 from the field overall. He also went 4-for-5 at the free throw line. Rose leads the Ephs (15-4 overall) with 18.4 points per game.

Williams made 46.4 percent (13-28) of its three-pointers. Meanwhile, Hamilton (12-3) went 3-for-13 (23.1 percent) from long range. Andrew Newton '06 chipped in 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. Brian Nelson '07 made 4-of-8 shots from beyond the three-point arc and finished with 12 points. Kevin Snyder '09 added nine points, six rebounds and a game-high five assists off the bench.

Nick Jones '07 led four Continentals in double figures with 17 points. Tim Welchons '06 scored eight of his 13 points in the second half. Giorgi Chavleishvili '08 dropped in 12 and Tsakane Ngobeni '07 had 10. Staunton Peck '06 pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench.

Hamilton shot 49.1 percent (27-55) from the field while the Ephs made 46.9 percent (23-49) of their field goal attempts. The Continentals held a 34-26 advantage in rebounds.

Williams led 35-29 at the half. Hamilton surged ahead 60-59 with 3:53 left, but the Ephs scored the next seven points for a 66-60 lead with 2:20 remaining. The Continentals missed a three-pointer with two seconds left that would have tied the score.

Williams has won five straight games against Hamilton and leads the all-time series 35-19.
