The Knights used their size advantage to help limit Central to 31.7 percent shooting to improve to 15-2 overall and 8-1 in league play.
Central (7-9 overall, 2-7 conference) got another double-double from center Clint Driftmier who had 23 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Zak Clark had eight points and four assists while guard Brett De Hoogh had seven rebounds and six assists.
Wartburg, up at halftime 37-27, had 18 points and six assists from guard Jason Steege while center Nate Schmidt had 15 points and 13 rebounds. The Knights shot 48.2 percent from the field and outboarded Central 42-37.
Central returns to the road for two more league contests this weekend. The Dutch are at Mt. Vernon Friday for a women’s-men’s doubleheader with Cornell College, with the men’s game tipping off at 8 p.m. Saturday they journey to Dubuque to meet Loras College in a twinbill featuring a 6 p.m. men’s game start. Saturday’s contests will be broadcast on KRLS-FM (92.1) and can also be heard via www.kniakrls.com.
