Nichols 94, Anna Maria 68

PAXTON, MA — The Anna Maria men’s basketball team lost a conference game tonight against visiting Nichols College by the score of 94-68. The game featured a remarkable shooting performance by the visiting Bison. As a team they shot an impressive 58% from the floor in the first half, and then an unconscious 70% in the second. A nine point halftime lead turned into a 26 point run away victory.

The hottest Bison was sophomore Justin Lewis (Hopedale, MA) who finished with a game high 23 points on 10 for 14 shooting. Most of his 23 points seemed to come just when the visitors needed a basket to keep the game out of Anna Maria’s reach. Lewis scored the majority of his points in the paint where the home team just did not have an answer for him.

The Amcats received another strong scoring performance from Sophomore Anthony McDonald who recorded a team high 19 points, while Jim Daigneault regained his scoring touch and added 18.

Nichols had 3 players in double digits in addition to Lewis. Casey Butler, Chris Vallee, and Jermiane Baskerville had 14, 12 and 13 respectively.

Nichols improves to 6-8 and more importantly 3-4 in the CCC while Anna Maria drops to 2-16 (0-10 CCC.)
