Westminster (Pa.) 134, Thomas More 109

NEW WILMINGTON, PA] — Thomas More connected on 63 percent from inside the three-point line and 56 percent overall, but it wasn't enough as Westminster defeated the Saints, 134-109, Saturday at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.

The difference came beyond the arc as the Titans drilled 18 three-pointers on 39 attempts, while Thomas More converted just 3-of-13.

Thomas More began the game on a hot streak, opening up an eight-point lead eight minutes into the contest. However, the Titans went on a 22-9 spurt to open up a six-point lead with 8:46 remaining in the first half. The lead would balloon to 16 three minutes later, but TMC cut to 12 going into the break.

Westminster pushed the lead to 20 four minutes into the second half and it never got below that plateau for the rest of the game.

Junior E.J. Haynes led the way with 22 points and six rebounds, while junior Garry Horton added 18 points, six assists and three rebounds.

Senior R.K. Thurman added 17 points and five rebounds, while junior Ed Thornton chipped in with 14 points.

Thomas More (1-17 overall, 1-5 PAC) will step out of Presidents' Athletic Conference action when they travel to play Centre on Tuesday.
