HARTFORD, Conn. — Senior co-captain forward Tyler Rhoten (Ridgewood, N.J.) totaled game-highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds and became the first player in the College’s history to score 2,000 points in his career, leading the Trinity Bantams to a 63-56 win over the Wesleyan University Cardinals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men’s basketball action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 13-3 overall and 3-0 in the NESCAC with its fourth straight win, while the Cardinals drop to 6-10 overall and 0-4 in the league.

Rhoten, who became Trinity’s all-time leading scorer earlier this season, reached 2,000 career points with his eighth point of the game tonight and has an unprecedented total of 2,010 points in his four years at Trinity with at least six games remaining. Junior guard Kino Clarke (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore center Russ Martin (East Longmeadow, Mass.) scored 12 points each and Martin added 10 rebounds. Trinity opened the game with a 27-5 run and held Wesleyan to just a pair of field goals in its first 20 shots and a 27.3 field goal percentage for the game.
